America’s Package Insert: The Declaration of Independence
Caution, there is a black box warning...
In medicine, every vaccine comes with a package insert—an official document detailing known risks, side effects, ingredients, and warnings. As an informed consent advocate, I regularly read these inserts aloud to highlight what pharmaceutical companies often hide in plain sight.
But what if America had a package insert?
We do. It’s called the Declaration of Independence.
And unlike modern pharmaceutical inserts that obscure truth, America’s founding document boldly declares eternal truths—rooted in God, in nature, and in liberty.
💉 Section 1 – Dosage and Administration: Truths That Must Be Delivered
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.—That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed…”
This is the moral and legal foundation of our Republic—not from government, not from kings or bureaucrats, but from our Creator. That acknowledgment of divine origin is not poetic—it’s political. It’s the proper dosage of freedom—to be administered by a people committed to truth, justice, and consent of the governed.
🙏 The Final Sentence: Trusting Divine Providence
“And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.”
This wasn’t a secular revolution. It was a sacred one. They didn’t rely on the CDC or the FDA—they relied on Divine Providence.
⚠️ America’s Black Box Warning: Jefferson on Vigilance
If our nation had a Black Box Warning like those found on pharmaceutical products, it would be this timeless reminder from Thomas Jefferson:
“The price of freedom is eternal vigilance. And it’s a price that must be paid by every generation. Let no more be heard of confidence in man, but bind him down from mischief by the chains of the Constitution.”
Freedom has never been free—and it has never been permanent unless defended. This warning should be printed on every government building in America.
🧾 Section 6.2 – Postmarketing Experience
If America had a Section 6.2, it might read like this:
“Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.”

This is the hard-earned wisdom of history. It’s what happens after the launch—when liberty is tested in the real world. Section 6.2 reminds us that postmarketing freedom must be vigilantly preserved.
📌 Section 13.1 – Use in Future Generations
If America had a Section 13.1, it would include this historic exchange at the close of the Constitutional Convention of 1787:
As Benjamin Franklin was leaving Independence Hall, a woman approached him and asked,
“Doctor, what have we got—a Republic or a Monarchy?”
Franklin replied:
“A Republic, if you can keep it.”
Like every serious insert warning, this comes with an implicit caution: our system only survives if we choose to uphold it. The founding generation delivered the formula. It's now our duty to preserve it.
Let us read, remember, and recommit to the truths in our founding “package insert.” Because informed consent doesn’t just apply to medicine—it applies to liberty.
