Recently, I shared a post that compared two public figures, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Dr. Rachel Levine, a pediatrician and a high-level official in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services under President Biden. Dr. Levine is a transgender woman—a biological male who now goes by the name Rachel and dresses as a woman. The meme labels RFK Jr. as "organic" and Levine as "GMO." Following this post, I received several private messages expressing concern that my actions were unkind, unchristian, and unbecoming of a physician.
I want to acknowledge those concerns with humility. As a Christian and a healthcare professional, I strive to reflect God's love in all my interactions and communications. I fall short. I understand the importance of treating every individual with dignity and respect, as each person is created in the image of God. We are called to love our neighbors, even when we may not fully understand their experiences or perspectives.
At the same time, I believe that truth is foundational to both our faith and our practice as healthcare providers. Truth allows for healing, restoration, and proper care. In our current cultural climate, there are times when speaking the truth can be uncomfortable or even offensive to some. However, I believe that truth is a cornerstone of both spiritual and physical well-being.
As a holistic physician, I am committed to addressing the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. When we encounter individuals experiencing deep struggles, whether it be depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, gender dysphoria, or transgenderism, our response should be one of compassion and a desire to see them receive the appropriate care and support. Mental health challenges are complex, often influenced by personal trauma, emotional wounds, and societal pressures. Transgenderism, which is characterized by a profound disconnect between one's biological sex and gender identity, is a form of mental illness that requires understanding and appropriate mental health intervention, not normalization or elevation.
We do not affirm destructive behaviors in those suffering from other types of mental illness such as addiction or severe depression; instead, we seek to guide them toward restoration and wholeness. Similarly, individuals grappling with confusion about their gender identity deserve our empathy and access to mental health support grounded in reality and the biological truths of our created bodies. The Bible is unambiguous—there are only two genders. Yet, Dr. Levine has chosen to wear a dress and identify as a woman. While he has a right to do so, we should not as a society normalize and elevate such behavior and put such a person in a position of authority over our healthcare agencies under the guise of DEI.
Dr. Levine, like all of us, carries a unique story and has intrinsic value as a child of God. We should offer him our sympathy, compassion, love, and, most importantly, mental health help. When we normalize and embrace a man wearing a dress and accept his delusion of being a woman, we do more harm than good. At the extremes of this acceptance, we have allowed gender-mutilating surgery on children and adults. We have allowed the use of powerful drugs to prevent puberty and permanently alter the hormonal milieu of the body. This must stop.
As we navigate these challenging issues, I encourage us all to approach one another with both grace and truth. We can hold firm to our beliefs while extending love and compassion. We can speak truth without cruelty. And we can pray for wisdom and guidance as we seek to reflect Christ's love in an increasingly divided world. If my posting of a truthful but sarcastic and pithy meme caused offense, I apologize.
Thank you to those who reached out to me with your concerns. Your honesty has given me the opportunity to reflect. My prayer is that we all continue to pursue understanding and healing under the ultimate truth and love of Christ.
No apology needed.
I also hold to the precept "truth with compassion" when dealing with damaged people. In this case, however, your commentary isn't directed toward a private citizen but rather a public figure and pediatrician who held public office at the federal level, with significant influence over the lives of American citizens, including children. This man's sickness caused harm to innocent people, as his transgender mental illness was weaponized by the Biden regime to promote evil policies such as allowing male predators to shower with women and little girls, to batter them in sports competitions, and to facilitate the sterilization and genital mutilation of vulnerable young people.
This man may deserve compassion for his mental illness, but he deserves far more than mockery for his sins against humanity--I suggest prosecution and prison time.
Wonderful and Truthful
